The Working Poor

I know I'm a few years behind the times on this one, but I just finished reading Barbra Ehrenreich's book Nickel and Dimed. Essentially, Ehrenreich takes some time off from her middle-class lifestyle and attempts to support herself working only minimum wage jobs. This was inbetween 1998 and 2000 that she was doing this -- on July 24 of this year, the federal minimum wage will jump all the way up to $5.85. The idea that only people who are "too lazy to work" experience poverty is a bunch of bologna, not to mention another b-word that has one more letter.

Interesting book.
